QSWO w/ Robert's Formula & MLC Ultrastar Dull |
This is Robert's "Grain Popper" 33/33/33% Seal Coat / Turpentine / BLO. The application was allowed to dry only one evening, then overcoated with ML Campbell Ultrastar dull water based lacquer. Normally, a BLO rub would need almost a week to properly dry before the application of the water based lacquer. As a side note, this panel was coated with a foam brush, even though MLC states "Spray application only" in all Ultrastar application documentation.

Below is a semi-blurry low angle shot that attempts to show the very even, low sheen, and how the clear finish does not make the wood look wrapped in plastic. Please concentrate on the focused section. Ultrastar cures almost as thin as a nitrocellulose lacquer. I have yet to find a local person that can correctly identify the water base from the solvent version by appearance alone.
